Custom Exterior and Interior Masonry
Northern Stonecraft provides a full spectrum of custom masonry services. We enjoy unique challenges and hands-on problem solving, and apply the same level of craft, artistry and precision to all projects, from small kitchen islands to large, attention-getting exteriors. We work throughout the Pacific Northwest, and utilize a small-crew approach best suited to close communication and high-quality craftsmanship.
Design and Pre-Construction Consultation
East of the Cascades, four distinct seasons create demanding conditions for stone work. Fireplaces, chimneys and wainscoting must be carefully designed and constructed to endure repeated freeze/thaw cycles, complicated roof systems, intense sun exposure, and snow accumulation. With extensive experience in traditional masonry fireplaces, Northern Stonecraft frequently consults with architects and contractors to assist in placement and design decisions, offering insight into the supporting role that fireplaces should (and shouldn't) play within the structure.
Stone Selection and Sourcing
We love real stone for three simple reasons — it is beautiful, it functions, and it lasts. We work with contractors and homeowners to educate them on the value of natural stone, and how their initial investment will pay substantial dividends in terms of maintenance, longevity, and integrity of the surrounding structure. We have built solid relationships with premier stone suppliers in both Western and Eastern Washington over the last 20 years, allowing us to provide great stone selection and streamlined delivery logistics.
Project Management
Northern Stonecraft works directly with both contractors and homeowners, depending on project size, scope and individual preference. We are practical thinkers and dedicated craftspeople who encourage open, direct communication, and are committed to making your custom stone project an efficient, pleasant experience.
Restoration and Difficult Repairs
Masons trained in traditional techniques are harder and harder to come by, making restoration and repair of legacy stone work (and sometimes even newer masonry) a daunting process. We work with you to offer a range of cost effective and technically sound solutions suited to stone condition, desired function, and overall aesthetics, and whenever possible, prioritize repair over removal.
